Cobb County, Ga. Gets on the Program
More and more areas of this country are passing and enforcing laws to deal with illegal aliens. EXCELLENT. It's way past time that this country pulls up the "Welcome" mat for law breakers.
In areas where they've gotten serious about enforcing the laws the illegals are leaving. This country doesn't have to round up and deport millions of these criminals, this country needs to give them every reason to leave and no reason to stay.
MARIETTA, Ga. - The Cobb County Commission has approved a request by the sheriff to work more closely with federal officials to deport jailed illegal immigrants.
The move, which the commission unanimously endorsed Tuesday, means the sheriff's department will join a federal program that will provide quicker identification of illegal immigrants who are charged with a crime.
The county would be the first in Georgia to join the program. Only seven other agencies around the country have joined.
Under the program, local law enforcers are trained on how to handle illegal immigrants they encounter during routine duties, Cobb County Sheriff Neil Warren said.
"Our focus will continue to be on identifying, prosecuting and deporting illegal aliens who are in our country illegally and committing crimes," Warren said.
Georgia passed some laws that focused on illegals that are being phased in. Some of the best laws deal with identifying and deporting the criminals. One law calls for checking the immigration status of everyone arrested for a felony or DUI. That's fine but why not checking the status of everyone arrested for any crime???
