This happens all the time. Probably the only reason this hit the paper was because it involved a Deputy. Otherwise, wouldn't have merited mention. The part that really pisses me off is finding out that the perp was arrested multiple times and should have been deported but nobody checked his immigration status or reported him.  So he just paid his fines and went on his merry way. I don't know if that applies in this case. Often, we don't hear about that. Remember, these guys are "innocent" until proven guilty.

More of these slime need to go to jail and these stories need more attention from the media. The message needs to go out that employers ARE being prosecuted. Even though there hasn't been a final ruling in ths case, it sounds like he got off too easy.

The more of this that I see, the happier I am. It's long overdue. Illegal aliens, as the criminals that they are, are everyone's concern. It sickens me everytime I hear some pass-the-buck ankle grabber saying that "Immigration is a federal problem." Show me any politician that uses that as an excuse and I'll show you a coward.

Those of us who know jack about this issue have been screaming for enforcement for many years. Our government, finally, has started to show a little token enforcement and it's working. Yes, we've heard the worn out mantras about "You can't stop them no matter what you do. Show me a 10 ft. wall and I'll show you an 11 ft. ladder, " etc.. We know that stopping all illegal immigration would be impossible. But we also know that with some enforcement we can turn a tidal wave into a dribble. And enforcement is working.

 We need more police and sheriff's departments to do the same thing. Of course, the pro-illegal crowd starts whining about "racially profiling." Georgia passed a law that requires immigration status be checked on every person arrested for a felony or DUI. Why not check every person arrested, PERIOD? No exceptions.

I'm sooo sick of these spineless weasels. I'm so tired of the red herring arguments when it comes to local law enforcement and illegal aliens. Patrick, you POS, get a clue. Crime is everyone's concern. It's very simple, "You're a cop, there's a criminal, do your job." Sanctuary policies of "Don't ask, Don't tell" and "Illegal Immigration is a federal issue" are costing American citizens their lives.

Snicker..snicker...snicker. There's been a trend of civil suits against these slime employers and I'm hoping to see more of it. Think it was a ruling in the Zirkle Fruit case that opened the door. Anybody that knows anything about the issue of illegal immigration KNOWS that we don't have to round up and deport 12-20 million illegals. All we need to do is enforce the laws and many of them will leave on their own. It happened in Hazelton, Pa., it happened in Stillmore, Ga., and it's happening in the aftermath of the Swift raids. KEEP IT UP!!!!!

There's been much more activity from our immigration enforcers but it's still anemic as hell. Ehhh, rather some raids than none. And I believe this can have a much larger and domino effect on the problem. Peter gets arrested and booted back to whatever country. He tells others, "Hey, man. There ain't no jobs in X,Y, or Z anymore. They're cracking down." So, those that are on the "fence"  might decide not to come.

I'd just read something within the last week or so about the number of ILLEGALS that drive in California without a license or insurance. Have a wreck? No problemo!! Just haul ass across the border. Anyway, even though this doesn't specifically target illegals it may have a positive effect and act as a further incentive for them to get out of Dodge, or Sacramento, whichever the case may be. I haven't heard anyone screaming, "Racist" yet, but just give it a little while.

GOOD!!!! These acts are largely symbolic but send a very clear message, "If you're an illegal go somewhere else because we don't want you here." The "English as the official language" provision has little impact other than making a statement that we expect you to learn the language if you live here. There was a TV report where they interviewed a woman, we assume an illegal, who had lived in Cherokee County for 10 years. She didn't speak a word of English. I find that sickening.

Nothing makes me angrier. Nothing about the whole immigration debate affects me the same way as learning about another citizen killed by an invader. Especially an invader that should have been thrown in jail then deported for earlier crimes.
