Colorado Kicks Illegals' Asses

@ 09:28 PM (15 months, 25 days ago)

Excellent!! And I think this is one of the damned few pieces of legislation pushed by a democrat legislature.

Have a nice trip

Because this is now the law: Anyone like Margarita who lives in state-funded housing must show identification to their landlord and sign a paper that says they’ve come legally to the country. Like scores of immigrants in Telluride and across Colorado, Margarita crossed illegally and has no papers. So when her lease at the Village Court Apartments expires next month, she and her family are out.

So it goes at apartment complexes in Mountain Village and Telluride, where illegal immigrants — many from Mexico and Central America — live in subsidized or government-built homes or receive state aid to help pay the rent.

How in the hell did these gate-crashers get subsidies? This shouldn't have happened...NEVER AGAIN!

Daniel Molina, an undocumented Mexican immigrant, said he’ll move even farther when his lease at Shandoka expires May 4. Molina said his fake green card is worthless to extend his lease, since landlords and governments are verifying document numbers against federal databases.

“Some are going to change apartments and move to Montrose,” he said of the 15 companeros who crossed with him a year ago. “But if I go to Montrose, I have to get a ride or a car, and pay every day. The work is in Telluride.”

So Molina said he has decided. This spring, he’s returning to Mexico.

Oh, break my heart. I'll be crying in my pillow all night over that. Get the hell out and don't come back without permission.

  2. Why did it happen in Colorado? Because Pelosi, Kerry, Clinton et al are NOT in Colorado.

  3. I read most of your blogs, and find them interesting. I actually support what you call amnesty. Amnesty, by definition is a pardon, and the proposed plan isn't a pardon, it's a fine, but that aside, we have millions of jobs, which our citizens won't do, at the pay scale we offer. So, in your blogs, you say, "pay better or get out of business." Point well taken, but we enjoy affordable saddles, cheap food supplies, cheap hotel rooms, because of the cheap labor of immigrants, many of them undocumented. How many $10,000 saddles would the saddle maker sell? Almost all successful economies have exploited someone. In America it has been immigrants, to provide cheap services, so the middle and upper class can have their needs met, cheaply. Then we became concerned that we were being overrun with immigrants, so we tightened up the immigration quotas, and they kept coming, illegally. Now we have a real problem. We don't want them, and we need them, so what do we do? We build fences, yell about it, and call a plan to try to bring the system back into balance--amnesty. What is wrong with raising the quotas, enforcing employer laws, encouraging the undocumented workers to register, and fining them? I would also change the Constitution, to quit rewarding illegal immigrants with citizenship for their children born in America. "Only children of legal citizens will be citizens." What's wrong with that?

  4. Hi Will,

Sorry I didn't get back with you sooner. I certainly agree that the 14th Amendment needs to be changed, as automatic citizenship for invaders was never its intention and we've been getting screwed over it for far too long.

As to the economic argument, take the time to check out my website and see what and how little illegal labor actually affects the cost of a product. Also, consider the costs of illegals to society vs the savings in prices. Also, look into the Bracero Program, sometime. It sounded good but was a failure. One report I saw said about half stayed and the ones that returned home (Mexico) to claim their money were cheated out of it. AND it's my understanding that other visa programs are being abused by employers as a means to depress wages for American workers. So called "hi-tech visas" for example. Also, consider how wages were depressed for meat house workers. Once upon a time, before the flood of cheap, illegal labor, those jobs paid a decent living. And there's always the problem of verifying the employers are playing by the rules. Which we've had a problem with for a very long time. Had workplace oversight and enforcement been done we wouldn't be in this position of having 12-20 million illegals in this country. And if another "Guest Worker Program" is put in place it will have the same results. If government wants to tweek the H-2A I might be okay with that.
