Sheriff Joe Knows What to Do About Illegals
Somebody, in a previous post, pointed out that under Arpaio's watch, a detainee died while in police custody. Not good. I don't know the particulars and it's not relevant to the point I'm trying to make. We need somebody in charge with a hard-ass attitude towards illegals. We've coddled them for way too long. Yes, they're human beings and I don't support any brutality but I have no qualms with a serious enforcement position, same as towards any thief.
Notice the pad "They're going to be racially profiling" bullshit defense the whiners ALWAYS use.
Immigration enforcement
As part of the Maricopa County Sheriff's immigration enforcement plan, deputies and/or detention officers will:
• Verify the status of every person booked into a Maricopa County jail. Detention officers will place a hold on every undocumented immigrant, meaning he or she cannot be released on bond. The inmate will eventually be remanded to federal custody for possible deportation.
• Arrest undocumented immigrants during routine patrols and hand them over to federal officials.
• Continue to arrest people on suspicion of conspiring to smuggle themselves into the country, in addition to arresting suspected human traffickers.
"What he's doing could lead to racial profiling and ultimately lead to discriminatory actions against his officers," said Danny Ortega, a Phoenix attorney and Latino activist.
