Senator Spector is Full of Crap

It's really very sad. There are several senators that I had some respect for that have turned into huge disappointments. Graham, Lott, McCain, even though I knew he was weak on illegals. Specter, I didn't really have much to say about because I don't know him.

WASHINGTON - Opponents killed the immigration bill by successfully branding it as "amnesty" for 12 million undocumented residents, Sen. Arlen Specter (R., Pa.) said yesterday.

Despite stiff penalties for illegal immigrants seeking citizenship, the senator said, opponents of the legislation had won the battle to define it.

"The best way to defeat the bill was to give it that label - and to keep pounding at it," Specter said. "I don't think it was amnesty, but I can see how somebody else would press the argument.

"I think it's wrong to call it amnesty," he said, "because it did not forgive a violation of the law - it extracted penalties for violation of the law. Amnesty is forgiveness for a law violation."

Bullshit. Are those that committed multiple felonies by using bogus or stolen IDs, cheating on taxes, reentry after being deported, etc.. going to be charged? Are these crimes even mentioned in the amnesty bill? What were they actually being fined for? Simply ignoring our borders and overstaying visas? And, of course as we all knew, they were going to have to pay back-taxes. MY ASS.

Specter endorsed the view of Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff, who said that the 12 million illegal immigrants were going to remain, "so now it's silent amnesty if you do nothing." Chertoff is a traitorous, spineless sack of pig puke...and those are his good points. Doing nothing is exactly why we have this problem. We've had 20 plus years of "do nothing" jerks like Chertoff. "Silent amnesty?" How about enforcing the laws you spineless bastards? ICE can't even find, arrest and deport the 600,000 that have already been ordered out. How are they going to deport the millions that don't qualify for an amnesty? I'd love to hear some of the pro-amnesty liars explain that one. ICE doesn't even have the resources to pick up the illegals that they're being notified of from police and sheriff's departments.

  1. Having been a Specter voter for many years, I am extremely disappointed in his attitude on this issue. Specter has had the reputation as being a free thinker however he has done the right thing time after time when push comes to shove. He came through as Judiciary Chairman in getting Roberts and Alito on the Supreme Court. Perhaps Specter knew his vote here would not make a difference and is planning long term. He can be machiavelian.
