Anyway, this nation needs to send out a very loud and clear message that playtime is over and no more of this "Wet foot, dry foot" crap. Cubans should be treated the same as anyone else. An illegal immigrant will spent the rest of his life in prison for his role in the brutal beating and rape of a Limestone County Teenager last summer.
Investigators said Hernandez and Javier Guzman Martinez, who's also serving a life sentence, approached an 18-year-old girl outside a strip mall in Mexia.
According to police, they later ran her off Highway 171, then kidnapped, raped and stabbed her for two hours, before leaving her for dead near Coolidge.

Dear Business,
Play by the rules or go out of business. It's you cheating, low-life scumbags that are the main problem and reason why we have 12-20 million illegals running around. You don't give a damn about this nation as long as you can maintain a cheap slave labor force. So, go up on your wages and get legal workers or shut down. A study showed that if they doubled the wages paid to lettuce pickers the price would only go up a few cents a head. The American people will be happy to pay a little more to cut off jobs to illegals. Fewer illegals means less money paid for crimes, school costs, medical costs, etc...
Immigration attorneys also think the Department of Homeland Security will move forward with a proposed federal regulation that would increase a business' liability for employing workers whose Social Security numbers don't match government databases.
"There will be mass layoffs as soon as that regulation is published," said Laura Reiff, an immigration attorney at Greenberg Traurig's McLean, Va., office and co-chair of the Essential Worker Immigration Coalition.
"In Florida, it could be catastrophic," said Wendy Smith, an employment lawyer at the Tampa office of Fisher & Phillips. OMG!!! The sky is falling, the sky is falling!!!
Business groups like EWIC contended immigration reform was needed to fix a dysfunctional system. Employers in many industries can't find enough legal workers, document fraud makes it hard to determine a worker's status, and the failure of Congress to address these problems has prompted states and localities to pass their own immigration laws.
By putting off action on immigration reform, the Senate just made the status quo worse, Reiff said. BULLSHIT! Yeah, the status quo of non-enforcement and letting you weasels get away with breaking the laws may be coming to a close. You jerks may have to go up on wages. Breaks my heart.
A bigger threat to businesses could come from the federal government. Business groups had urged the Department of Homeland Security to wait for immigration reform legislation before it issues a final regulation outlining what steps businesses should take when they receive letters notifying them that an employee's name and Social Security number don't match federal records. Now that Congress has punted on the issue, the department may soon implement that regulation, immigration attorneys predict.
As proposed last summer, businesses who receive these "no match" letters should follow certain steps, such as checking the accuracy of their own records and notifying the employee of the problem. If the discrepancy can't be resolved within two months, the employer must fire the employee or risk being charged with violating immigration laws.
The regulation won't "let people ignore problems that have stared them in the face before," Smith said.
Excellent! That's the way the system should have been run for the last 20 years. No match on an employee's information? They get a short amount of time to straighten it out or they are history. The way the system currently works the employer is supposed to notify the employee and that's it. Some SCUM employers will simply sign up the same illlegal under a different name and SSN. Better would be a federal mandate that every employee be screened thru the Basic Pilot Program. You heard all the cries to the heavens over what a huge burden that puts on employers? BULLSHIT. Ever notice how much trouble it is for them to swipe your credit card? Ever waited for an instant background check before buying a pistol? They can go cry to somebody else because their crocodile tears don't work with me.
Many workers who have been using fake Social Security numbers will lose their jobs, but "they're not just going to pack up their bags and go back to Mexico," Reiff said.
Many will stay in the United States and work in the underground economy instead, she predicted. "Oh, boo-hoo, boo-hoo. You're forcing them to go deeper into the shadows." Kiss my insensitive ass. They can always LEAVE or be found and tossed. No jobs, no reason to be here.
I love this. I nearly cheered when I read it. There is no question that there is some racism spewing from both sides of the illegal alien issue. But it saddens me to see people play into the pro-illegal crowd's hands by making anti-Latino/Mexican remarks. I've said it many times, I've got nothing good to say about Mexico and nothing bad to say about Mexicans/Latinos/Italians/Greeks/whatever. You an American Hispanic. God bless you. You and your culture have added as much to the tapestry of this nation as anybody else. You an illegal, get out. I don't care where you're from, if you can't come legally then don't come.

Seems some other sheriffs are concerned about the costs. Some aren't too concerned because they're not having a flood of illegals.

It is NOT my contention that all illegals are violent child rapers. It is not my intent to try and villify every illegal as a criminal scum. It is my intent to make people aware of the fact that too many illegals are running around that shouldn't be here. Especially those that are arrested multiple times and the system fails to find out they're illegals and/or deport them. And all too often this is the result, or worse. It's bad enough we have to deal with our own murdering, raping slime. Why do we tolerate this?

As this article says, declaring itself a "sanctuary" to illegal aliens is mainly a political gesture. BUT if that policy conflicts with federal law then all federal funding should be cut off.

Excellent. This should be a federal mandate. EVERY person arrested should be run through a federal date base to check their immigration status. The only thing that struck me as odd about this resolution had to do with them asking. "Hey, Won Garcia O'Brian, you here illegally?" "Ahhh, nope."

I'm still amazed at our incredibly biased media's coverage over the failure of the amnesty. All we heard were the pundits reveling in the so called split between pro-reform republicans and their conservative base. We heard some senators trying to sell us the baloney that it was just a small but vocal minority having a fit over the "immigration reform" package and if they really knew the details even they would support it. We even heard Trent Lott blaming talk radio for his phones ringing off the wall. Also, we heard virtually NOTHING about democrats catching total hell but there is no doubt, despite the glaring silence from the media.

Ehhh, another poll. You know how I feel about polls and I'm not too big on the AP/Ipsos but this is just another one that supports what we already know. People would like to see more security on our borders and we know the government isn't serious. I'm of the opinion it will take a mushroom cloud over Houston and it be traceable to the southern border before they'll get serious. We know that we can't stop all bad guys or illegals and that a lot of "security" is just a scarecrow but we need more scarecrows.

I'm glad there are some that have a grasp of the issue and can spell it out rather than hiding under their desks in fear of offending somebody. I know nothing about Senator Thune but he voted the right way on cloture and he has the guts to share some of his thinking in this article.

This is EXACTLY the kind of thing that happens all the time all over this country. This is EXACTLY the type of thing that causes steam to come out of my ears. At least, according to the article, ICE was notified at some point. In many/most instances ICE is never notified and illegals are treated like any other citizen. Keep in mind, innocent until proven guilty and it didn't clearly establish he was here illegally.

I've long argued that illegal immigration is not a party issue with the voters. Most Americans, regardless, don't favor an amnesty and want to see our borders secured and our immigration laws enforced. I think the people will let another amnesty slide but want to see this government get serious about enforcement, first. However, looking at how the politicians vote is a different thing.

This is too funny. It's wrong, but understandable, to assume that just because there are a large number of foreign speakers at a job site that they are illegal aliens. But, ahhh, in this instance it would make me tend to believe that some of them may not have had their papers in order. (smirk)

Again, farmers screaming for CHEAP labor and lots of it. Anywhere in the article does it mention the H-2A? Hell no. Typically, they want to keep the public ignorant. They want to act like there's no means for them to get legal immigrant labor. That's a LIE. All I can do is relate what I've seen and read. I've never worked on nor run a farm. But the FACT is that there is a temp worker program for farmers and it doesn't have a cap. They can bring in as many workers as they need, if they're willing to jump thru the hoops and pay the price. From what I do know about the H-2A it could stand some work to make it more user friendly. AND there needs to be some means to keep illegals on the farm and they not just use the program as a means into this country then "poof."

I'm shocked. I'm sure there's much more to the story but from the brief article I'm impressed. Sounded like a good decision and asking for the legislature to clean up some of the bill was a good idea. Now, depending on how the bill was drawn up and how many it affects, let's hear them scream, business and illegals.

Napolitiano is a whack job. She bounces around like a Tijuana whore on amphetamines when it comes to illegal aliens. One moment she's calling out the National Guard, the next moment she's vetoing anti-illegal legislation. Then the people have to have the matter put on the ballot to override her idiocy. Then she tries to water down whatever law the people vote in. Go figure. On some earlier issue she came out with the most bogus possible excuses for her cowardice. See my earlier thread on "Napolitano Needs To GO." Anyway, what will she do, this time? Spine or no spine?

I'm pretty sure I've mentioned this before and others have written about it long before me. The fact is that some businesses are nervous. Actually, much more than nervous. Since they didn't get an amnesty thru nor any additional worker programs they feel left out in the rain. They're fearful of getting raided by ICE and local laws taking effect but they don't want to do anything that causes them to have to go up on wages. So they fall back on the typical,"We're not immigration agents, and they had the right papers, so how were we to know?" Other businesses try to insulate themselves by using "contractors."

I've been beating this drum for a long time. Yeah, it certainly looks partisan if look you at the politicians, but NOT if you look at the voters. Some have tried to label it as a conservative thing. I don't buy that either. A lot of PEOPLE opposed this bill for different reasons. Let me bring up Rasmussen, again, because I think his poll clearly supports my contentions. No, I wouldn't hang my hat on one poll result but it goes much further. I can't tell you how many times I've seen comments from democrats or republicans that denounced another amnesty. Look at almost any publication that allows comments from readers and you'll see what I mean.
