Gov. Spitzer's an idiot. It's GOOD to be a republican.
I'm not a party kind of guy, especially on this issue. From what I've seen, illegal immigration isn't a party issue with the people of this country, either. Democrats poll a little softer than republicans but not much. However, with the politicians it's a little different. Most opposition to illegal aliens comes from republican politicians and democratic politicians are usually doing their appeasing best. But as I've noted, not always.
Spitzer pissed-off everybody with his drivers license plan. Some dem politicians are trying to help cover for him but, I'm sure, plenty are behind the scenes saying, "What an idiot."
Republicans, can you feel the love?
Changes Gov. Eliot Spitzer made during the weekend to his plan for driver’s licenses for illegal immigrants doesn’t have state Assembly Minority Leader James Tedisco switching his stance on the issue.
“The only way you stand up to a bully is stand up to a bully and not back down,” Tedisco said. “And we will not back down.”
State Sen. James Seward, R-Milford, said he hopes there are more changes because Spitzer’s plan is still flawed.
“There’s no question he’s starting to feel the heat on the issue,” Seward said.
When introducing Tedisco at the dinner Monday night, state Assemblyman Marc Butler, R-Newport, touched on another issue resulting from Spitzer’s plan: Republicans are starting to feel empowered by public opinion turning against Spitzer.
“It’s been awhile in this state since we’ve been able to say, ‘It’s good to be a Republican,’” Butler said.
