I don't have the time to go over some of this and comment but there's been a bit of a stir over some of this report. It was done by CIS but based on census figures. I shy away from studies that blend numbers for legal and illegal immigrants, not that I am not concerned about the impact of rampant immigration but my focus tends towards illegals. Anyway, it makes for a good read and anytime you hear one of those hand-wringing, bleeding-heart imbeciles making some comment about the US slamming the door in immigrants' faces you should keep this in mind.

I've harped about this because too many people still don't get it. A "Fence" is only as good as the enforcement that goes with it. In some areas a fence has been VERY effective. But as for stopping illegals coming into this country, nope. It may slow it down, it sends the right message, but this country needs more than just a fence and if anyone thinks that's a cure-all they aren't paying attention.

I had a serious problem with some of the reported circumstances. a woman drives 280 plus miles with her 9 year old to camp out in very southern Arizona? On Thanksgiving? And she crashes and dies on a remote road within a few miles of the border? It sounded totally nuts and made no sense.

We, those who have watched this issue for years, have been screaming about cutting off the incentives that drive illegal immigration. It's NOT about "starving immigrants trying to feed their families," it's about the money. All we need to do is take up the "Welcome" mat and many will leave on their own. Best of all, fewer will be making the trip. And that's EXACTLY what's happening. The federal government's attempts at enforcement are an anemic joke. They're not serious about enforcement, it's a sham. If anything, the governemnt is trying to find a way to maintain a large pool of CHEAP labor to business. However, some states are stepping up to the plate and showing some spine and I beleive their efforts are having more of an impact than the non-efforts of the federal government. Anyway, we don't know exactly how much of an impact recent laws and enforcement measures are having, but we know they're working and illegals are leaving.

It took the murders of three young people and the "possible" (cough) involvement of an illegal who shouldn't have been on the streets before New Jersey took action to identify illegal aliens in their jails. In this instance the pro-illegals and others are whining because a police officer committed the unpardonable offense of asking two people at a crime scene if they were illegals, one was. Anyway, you can read the rest. I understand why they don't want to instill fear in possible witnesses or victims of crime. If our police would check the immigration status of every arrestee, and if ICE would put them in jail then deport them, there would be a lot less of this insanity. We have enough problems with our own criminals, why do we tolerate this? These deaths are PREVENTABLE. Not mentioned in the article, and is often the case, no word of previous arrests.

First time I've heard this one. My understanding was that a "Zero tolerance" policy towards illegal crossers meant just that, ALL of them were to be jailed. I knew that would put a large initial strain on the system but reports show that the numbers drop rapidly when word gets out. Hence, fewer illegal crossers to be processed thru the system. If they're only going to prosecute 10% of those they catch then it seems they should focus on those that have already been caught several times and those with criminal records. Somewhere in my travels I'd read a bit that said about 10% of illegal aliens the Border APtrol arrested had criminal records. So, I hope that's the 10% they are going to target.

I don't know how far this will go but I can always hope. Giving drivers licenses to illegals is totally insane, but it's not the only self-destructive insanity this nation exhibits when it comes to illegal aliens and immigration.

Again, another word-mincing, dancing, spinning clown. I don't get it, I really don't. I guess it's because my position is so simple and easy to defend that I've never felt I needed to be a lying, deceitful, slime muffin. Also, please note the threats. I've seen more of that, lately. As stupid as the mass demonstrations were, where illegals and their supporters took to the streets demanding their "rights" while waving foreign flags, ANY show of violence by illegals would be an EXTREMELY stupid thing to do. This isn't France nor a Palestinian territory.

It's sad that the arrest of a mere 11 illegals would even rate notice, much less a headline. but I mention this to point out the standard boo-hoo arguments they always make. It's not that they're breaking the law and got caught, to them it's that ICE didn't play fair. My foot.

I read a lot of these stories and don't really have much to say about it. But I do have a question or two. Are these churches being supportive because of their hearts or their collection plates? Would some of these churches be so supportive of llegals if most illegals were Muslims or atheists? I don't know, I'm just asking.

The Progressive Leadership Alliance of Northern Nevada is sponsoring radio messages in Reno meant to deliver balanced messages about immigrants and immigration.
The nonprofit organization spent $5,000 for 240 spots on six local English-language
radio stations and three Spanish language stations. The English ads began airing Tuesday on KKOH-AM, KKFT-FM,
KJFK-AM, KTHX-FM, KPLY-AM and KJZS-FM.
"We think it's really important to put out in the community more positive ideas about immigrants and about immigration," said Bob Fulkerson, alliance executive director. "The anti-immigration venom that's been coming out of the community that was heightened during the aftermath of the ICE raids has undermined our shared community values." "Anti-immigration venom," MY ASS.
One 60-second ad says: "For most of history, the U.S. welcomed all who wanted to come and work, but a few decades ago, that changed: We closed our borders to all but a select few; mostly those with money or political connections. How strange, since our great country still relies heavily on immigrant labor. But now, we treat them as criminals." Bullshit. This is nearly 2008 and we are a nation of over three hundred million. This is not 1908. These jerks need to grow up and get over it. Also, we still allow more legal immigration than the rest of the world combined.
"We thought it was really important to put out some ideas and messages about bringing people together," he said. "If there were undocumented (workers) coming out of Canada or Sweden, I can guarantee you the vitriol would not be there." My ass. They're so desperate to try and make illegal immigration a race issue.
I keep saying this so people understand that the issue of illegal immigration is NOT such a partisan issue with the people or politicians. Not all republicans are hard-assed, anti-illegal opponents nor are all democrats ankle-grabbing, thumb-sucking appeasers on the matter. Where I'm at: Every anti-illegal politician that gets elected, regardless of party, is a good thing. Spitzer's weak kneed surrender to illegals didn't play well with many in his party. It doesn't look like it had some huge effect on republicans unseating democrats, but there were plenty of democratic candidates coming out against Spitzer.

Some New School democrats in the House, such as Heath Shuler, understand how the people feel about the issue of illegal immigration and it shows. This bill has some potential but the timing may be off. It kind of depends on how many political points the house and Senate think they can make off of it.

So, I won't be crying in my pillow over this story.

Why isn't this the law of the land? Why is this being adopted on a locality by locality basis? Yes, some states are doing similar but ALL states should be required to check immigration status of EVERY detainee. The good part is that every illegal that gets caught and tossed, no matter where, is one less we need be concerned with.

I bring this up on a semi-regular basis. The USA is NOT the only country that is having problems with "immigrants" (illegal aliens are the problem here) and NOT all our illegals are from Mexico. I know people tend to focus on Mexico but our problem is much larger than immigrants from any one country.

Nobody is sure why. The pro-illegals are trying to claim that the racially profiling police are backing off because of media attention. The anti-illegals are saying it's because illegals are on notice not to mess with Irving police. So, who knows? But there was a comment made by one of the pro-illegals I wanted to mention.

This article is misleading for a number of reasons but, bottom line, they're arresting more illegals. Which is a good thing. We don't need a 63% increase, we need a 20x increase. Instead of 2,700 it should be 54,000. Also, keep in mind that "arrested" doesn't mean "deported."

This is another "Boo-Hoo" piece from the thumb-suckers. AND, as always, the last bastion argument of every bleeding-heart liberal, "What about the children?" For a very long time, those of us who know have said that if this country simply got serious about enforcing the laws illegal aliens would leave on their own. No cattle cars needed. And what's going on in Oklahoma proves it. No, not all will be leaving the country but some will. And others may have a harder time establishing themselves in new areas. And those new areas may follow Oklahoma's lead.
