9 year old rescued by illegal alien. Update

@ 04:54 PM (5 months, 19 days ago)

Ok, I called this story "bullshit" because it made no sense. I didn't have a problem with the part about an illegal aiding a 9 year old boy. I had a serious problem with some of the reported circumstances. a woman drives 280 plus miles with her 9 year old to camp out in very southern Arizona? On Thanksgiving? And she crashes and dies on a remote road within a few miles of the border? It sounded totally nuts and made no sense.

BUT today I ran into this: Sounds better

A 9-year-old boy who was rescued by an illegal border crosser northwest of Nogales after his mother died in a car crash on Thanksgiving evening was reunited with his dogs and released from the hospital Monday.

The Monday afternoon delivery of the dogs, who also were in the van and survived the fall, provided Christopher with a few precious moments of happiness at University Medical Center, Tomko said. The 11-year-old male Golden retriever named Tanner was uninjured, while the 10-year-old female Queensland heeler named Jade suffered cuts on her right hind leg, said Michael Foster, Rio Rico Fire District chief.
Rio Rico firefighters, who were the first to arrive at the crash scene Friday morning, rescued the dogs and held them in a county shelter over the weekend.
"He was very happy to see them," Tomko said. "He had heard they were coming. The nurses said he was really looking forward to seeing them. The dogs were very, very pleased to see him as well."

Now it makes it more believable, though still kind of nuts. I will assume that her home area was a little cold for camping and that the border area was warmer. I don't know that just speculating. I could look up the temps for those two areas but, ehhh. Anyway, she was a teacher, her husband had recently killed himself, she was outdoorsy, so driving 180 miles to camp out with her 9 year old makes more sense. Especially since she took two dogs along. That doesn't exclude the possibility that she may have been engaged in some other activities but it makes the original story more sensible. At least she had two dogs along to offer some degree of protection and security in that area.
