Drivers licenses for illegals. 9 states in 2006. Only 5 states in 2008.

The times they are a changing. The free ride is coming to an end and the pro-illegals and pro-CHEAP labor bunch are wetting themselves.

North Carolina and Tennessee stopped issuing licenses to illegals all together. That dropped the number of states down to 7. Now,  Oregon is dropping the practice this February and Michigan just stated they were halting the practice. That takes it down to 5 and leaves Maine, Hawaii, Washinton, New Mexico, and Utah. Utah is issuing a "Driving Privilege" card. Maryland is looking at a "Real ID" compliant card and one that's not. I do not know if Washington, Hawaii and New Mexico are tightening up the rules. May not be so important with Hawaii but in the past these states were visited by illegals, living out of that state, by the bus load so they could get a license. Some states started toughening requirements so that illegals had to show they were a resident of that state. But,as we know, illegals will bogus up anything, any document, to get a license.

Thank you, Michigan

Illegal immigrants can no longer get a Michigan driver's license, Attorney General Mike Cox ruled Thursday, reversing a practice that has come under increasing scrutiny post-Sept. 11.

Michigan has been one of seven states to allow undocumented immigrants to get driver's licenses. Attorney general opinions are legally binding on state agencies and officers unless reversed by the courts.

It was not immediately known how soon the ruling may take effect or what it means for illegal immigrants with currently valid licenses.
