Bust them and boot them.

Police have arrested a fourth man they say is linked to three others arrested last week and suspected of stealing more than 20 cars.

Arley Da Cruz, 32, was arrested Friday at 6:20 p.m. after police found a gun they say was used in an attempted armed robbery Feb. 22 at a Union Avenue Getty station, police spokesman Lt. Paul Shastany said.

Detectives also found 16.9 grams of cocaine, ammunition for the .380 semi-automatic Stoeger handgun and marijuana when they searched Da Cruz's 504 Hollis St. apartment.

The three men were arrested last Thursday and Friday, following several weeks of investigative work. Avelino was arrested after a short police chase in a stolen car on Thursday. Rosa and Lirani were arrested later.

Also, police upgraded the charges on the three men initially arrested.

Avelino, Rosa and Lirani were all charged with armed assault with the intent to rob, attempting to commit a crime and the illegal possession of a firearm without a permit.

Avelino and Rosa were also charged with seven counts of larceny of a vehicle, receiving a stolen vehicle, larceny from a stolen vehicle, conspiracy to commit a crime and receiving stolen property worth more than $250.

Avelino was also charged with resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, refusing to stop for police and driving negligently to endanger.

Da Cruz was charged with trafficking in cocaine of more than 14 grams, possession of cocaine with the intent to sell, possession of marijuana, illegal possession of a firearm without a permit and illegal possession of ammunition.

All four men pleaded not guilty in Framingham District Court yesterday. Avelino and Rosa were both ordered held on $5,000 bail, while Da Cruz and Lirani were ordered held on $1,000 bail. You've got to be shitting me? Why not give them a bus ticket? If it wasn't for a detainer from ICE do you think they'd hang around for court?

Lirani, Rosa and Da Cruz also all have Immigration and Custom Enforcement detainer warrants because they are illegal immigrants from Brazil. Ok, does that mean one wasn't an illegal or they haven't found out, yet? Humm, wonder if Avelino will be around for trial?
