Hispanic caucus prepares to release immigration reform proposals
Saddens me that the immigration issue has been turned into an ethnic issue. There is no question that some racism exists on both sides along with a certain degree of nativism and xenophobia. But to simply scream "Racist. Nativist." at everyone that supports a tough policy towards illegal immigration is as lying and dishonest as it gets. I've seen it a million times. They can't argue the facts nor the logic so that's all they're left.
This caucus is going to outline a bullshit policy leading to another amnesty. They are going the typical "play with words" bullshit route I blogged about in my previous post. I grow so tired of it. They want to stop deportations and find a way to legitimize illegals in the short term at a time when the immigration laws, from the states, are having an effect. They want to stall for a couple of years until the next amnesty comes up.
Caca de Baca Sorry, the cut and paste did some strange things with the type.
"It will involve visas, but it won't be a path towards amnesty, it will not be amnesty, it will not be an opportunity, but they will have to be required to be in the United States, have been working, prove they've been working in the United States."
You know what I think about when I hear people saying things like, "This is not an amnesty?" I flash back to the tank smashing down the walls at Waco and over a loudspeaker they were saying, "This is not an assault." Really? Coulda fooled me.
