What bothers me about some of the legislation I'm seeing is that it's feel good stuff passed to appease the voters and as a smoke screen for politicians to act like they're doing something. Lots of bark with no bite. In this article the governor even admits that he doesn't want to pass legislation, he thinks it should all fall on the fed, and that's one of the reasons these laws don't take effect until July of 2009.

I'm dumb-struck by the incredible arrogance expressed in this article by a pro-illegal Irish jerk. Makes me ashamed of my Irish roots. As I've said many times: I don't give a damn where someone is from. All I ask is that they  be here with permission or get the hell out. The slayings in which he is one of the "accused" was a particularly senseless and vile act where three teens were executed. The particulars were so outrageous that the New Jersey Attorney General mandated that all jails screen for immigration status of those arrested. GOOD IDEA.

Not long enough. He's 20 and got a 25 year sentence. Chances are that 25 years will be cut so he could be back out when he's 35 or so. Who knows?
