Man charged with selling bogus birth certificates. $1000 each.
I'm an idiot. If I had a bit of sense I'd be running some bogus ID ring or helping smuggle illegals. Unbelievable money and not the same as getting caught with a load of cocaine. "I was just trying to help those poor, starving, immigrants have a better life and feed their families...." Yep, play the humanitarian card when I got caught. Go for the "Boo-Hoo" Defense.
Let's see, I'm in my 50s, no priors. Damn, I'd probably get out of jail in no time. The only thing that would sink my defense is when they found out about the money. Oops. "Well, ahh, gee. High overhead?"
A Tulare man has been charged in federal court with peddling counterfeit birth certificates to an informant working for government agents.
Miguel Gonzalez Ramirez, 63, is accused of selling two phony New Mexico birth certificates and an Arizona birth certificate for $1,000 each between Sept. 19 and March 2.
