Mississippi getting on the program.

The problem I have with some of these laws is they're tough sounding but have little bite. Also, some aren't going into effect for years. Even though Georgia passed some workplace laws against the hiring of illegals it has two flaws. 1. Who and how vigorously is that going to be enforced? 2. To my knowledge it doesn't affect all employees in the state, it targets those that do work for the state. The best thing Georgia did was to require an immigration check for everyone arrested for a felony or DUI but why not everyone arrested regardless of the offense?

US may not be able to meet timetable to secure border. DUH.

@ 09:39 PM (2 months, 8 days ago)

As we know, our government has no intentions of securing the border. Part of the Bush plan was to allow an additional 400-500 thousand into the country, "That will take pressure off the border." MY ASS! Also, I've yet to hear anyone address the problem of visa overstays and they make up about 40% of our illegal alien population.

Utah asks for twice as many ICE officers.

@ 07:15 PM (2 months, 8 days ago)

That's fine BUT Utah is sending some very mixed messages. They just approved (waiting for the governor to sign it?) a bill that targets illegals, good. But it didn't go far enough. All they needed to do was copy Arizona but they didn't have the stones for that. Utah's laws go into effect in July 2009. By that time our traitorous Congress will, no doubt, be trying to pass another amnesty or series of mini amnesties. Also, Utah didn't kill "driving permits" for illegals so what message does that send?

Enforcement works. Lock up every illegal alien.

@ 06:26 PM (2 months, 8 days ago)

All that glitters isn't as it appears. In some area I blogged about, they actually only prosecute about 1 in 10. BUT, even though these measures initially strain the system, if continued the numbers drop as word gets around. "Hey, man. Don't cross there, they'll put you in jail."

Arizona. 60 busted at drop house

@ 06:19 PM (2 months, 8 days ago)

Good. Shut down more drop houses. Honestly, this is still treating the symptoms but every little bit helps.

Tijuana, AGAIN, 5 shooting victims found. DEAD?

@ 12:50 PM (2 months, 9 days ago)

Minor detail left out of the story is whether or not they were all dead. Shooting victim does not mean deceased but in this story I'd say it's a pretty sure thing. I wouldn't go to Mexico with an armed guard. Yeah, yeah, plenty of people are murdered in this country, too.

Police have 5 hour shoot out in Tijuana with drug gang

@ 12:34 PM (2 months, 9 days ago)

Skimpy article. How many gang members? How many arrested? How many wounded? How many are current or former police?

Border areas pissed about judicial costs brought by illegal aliens

@ 11:50 AM (2 months, 9 days ago)

This is very easy to understand. Because of the federal government's adamant refusal to secure the border the locals are having to pick up the tab and they're tired of it.

National Guard being pulled from border BEFORE being replaced with agents.

@ 11:35 AM (2 months, 9 days ago)

Actually, my understanding, the government ahs been scaling back the NG from the border for a while. WHY the government would pull the NG before the Border Patrol is ready to deploy is beyond me. Well, actually, as we know, the government has no intention of securing the border and is only running a PR scam.

Illegal gets 33 months for shooting at off-duty police officer.

@ 11:21 AM (2 months, 9 days ago)

WHY do we put up with this? I've heard all the pat answers. "Citizens do bad things, too." I really believe this country should impose longer sentences to illegals and bill their home countries.  Currently, there's more of a move to boot them rather than pay for their upkeep in jail.
