Phoenix police support Arpaio's re-election
Eww, bet this pisses off their chief and the mayor. Tough crap. Also, his opponent's own police department's rank and file support Arpaio. What a great slap in the face. Maybe the murder of Officer Nick Erfle is still fresh in their minds.
Bust ALL law-breakers.
There's no love lost between Mayor Phil Gordon and Sheriff Joe Arpaio, but rank-and-file Phoenix police have cast their lot with the sheriff.
The Phoenix Law Enforcement Association has announced that it will support Arpaio in his re-election bid against former Buckeye Police Chief Dan Saban.
PLEA, which represents over 2500 Phoenix police officers and detectives, has communicated that their sworn members have expressed legitimate concerns, have paid a high price, and have highlighted valid costs connected with Public Safety Manager Jack Harris' "blind eye" restrictive immigration policy. Arpaio's commitment to the rule of law is consistent with the proactive police strategy sought after by PLEA. Lives are saved, communities are enhanced, and officers are safer when all laws are enforced equally and fairly in our state, counties, and cities.
The same release includes endorsements from the Buckeye Police Association and the border patrol union.
"Our members have compared both candidates side by side and have determined Arpaio to be the
better candidate for Maricopa County sheriff," Sgt. Carl Johnson of Buckeye police said in the release.
