There's a WAR going on in Mexico, and it's spilling over, and it's going to get worse
While much of this nation focuses on other parts of the world there's been all too little attention placed on our backyard. Basically, Mexico's government is fighting against the drug cartels and the cartels are fighting back. That's on top of the cartels battling each other and murdering anyone that stands in their way. Anyone that even dares speak out against them is targeted. Newspapers, writers, even popular entertainers have been gunned down for mentioning the violence.
Their acting FBI chief was gunned down the other day. A state police commander was shot and escaped to this country for treatment at one of our hospitals. The police chief of one Mexican town fled across the border to the US seeking sanctuary after all his officers vanished. Some 60-70 hit men raided the ranch of a well known former mayor, after being suspected of killing seven members of a "Cattlemen's union" or such the day before, and mowed down about 10 members of his family and workers. His 18 year-old daughter is missing and presumed kidnapped. In Nuevo Laredo a former councilman was murdered last Thursday. Police convoys have been attacked. In Tijuana there was a 5 hour gun battle with drug dealers, the Mexican police and army.
Their military and federal police have spread out in many towns and they can't control the violence. There have been seizures of all sorts of military weapons including, grenades, RPGs, and M-60 machine guns.
They're still trying to get 1.4 billion dollars fron the US to help fight the war. Problem is, with Mexico, you don't know where that money will end up and they want it no strings attached.
Kidnappings for ransome, which as far as I'm aware, were virtually unheard of in this country have gotten totally out of control when it comes to Mexican nationals, illegals, and their families living here. Just in the Phoenix area they've reported hundreds in the past year. Assaults on our Border Patrol officers have gone up about 3 fold over the past 6 or 7 years and I have no doubt it will get worse.
I'm not hiding under my bed nor wetting my pants, I'm just a little concerned where this is going.
