ICE "raids" Iowa meat plant. Six to seven hundred arrested?

@ 04:38 PM (5 months, 3 days ago)

WOO-HOO.  This may take a couple of days to get the real skinny. What bothers me is that it sounds like everybody knew this was coming, so how many illegals stayed away?

The article mentions possibly 600-700 arrests out of a workforce of about 1,000. So, that would mean that about 60-70% were illegals. Which means they are some low-life, lying, dirtbags if they want to pretend they didn't know or suspect they had a ton of illegals working there. "Oh, we didn't know. They all had papers. We're not document experts..." My ass.

Go ICE.

Immigration officials told aides to U.S. Rep. Bruce Braley that they expect 600 to 700 arrests. About 1,000 to 1,050 people work at the plant, according to Iowa Workforce Development.

Aides to Braley, a Waterloo Democrat, said they have been told that “hundreds” of arrests are expected because the action is more of an “investigation” than an immigration raid, and specific individuals are being targeted for arrest as part of the investigation.

Reading between the lines, and considering a growing trend of illegals using identity theft to avoid detection, I'll bet that ICE got tipped off to the identity theft problem and that's why they say they were targeting specific individuals. Also, as seen in previous 'raids," they may have been targeting those that supplied bogus documents.

Please keep this in mind: ICE made less than 5,000 workplace arrests last year. Even if ICE upped it to 50,000 a year there are still an estimated 7 million illegals working in this country. The GOOD part is that this puts employers on notice and it scares hell out of illegals who have had a free-ride for all too long. With some luck maybe some managers will be charged, tried and sentenced.
