Another Border Patrol officer accused of taking bribes. Makes me sick.
I don't care about excuses. It wouldn't matter to me if he was trying to get some special operation for his dying kid. As far as I'm concerned, if guilty, this should be treason. If an officer allows illegals in, does he or she have a clue who those people are? Terrorists, murderers, could be anybody. So, an officer that takes bribes shows they care more about money than the lives of innocent Americans.
A U.S. Border Patrol Agent is under arrest charged with helping run a massive human smuggling ring out of El Paso.
Jesus Miguel Huizar, 28, made his first appearance before a federal magistrate Wednesday afternoon.
"What the border patrol agent who was arrested tuesday is charged with doing is allowing illegal aliens through his checkpoints in New Mexico for $500 a head," said Leticia Zamarripa, a spokeswoman for Immigration and Customs Enforcement, one of the agencies involved in the investigation.
According to the indictment, Huizar owned a home in the 9000 block of Geranium in the Lower Valley which was used to house some of the illegal aliens. The ring also allegedly used a home in the 308 block of Ronquillo.
According to the court documents, back in March of this year, an unidentified person "harbored undocumented aliens at her residence" which was the residence on Ronquillo.
The indictment says the smuggling ring started as early as January 2005 and continued until last month.
The ring allegedly took in about $500,000.
In addition to human smuggling conspiracy, all three men also face federal money laundering charges.
According to the US attorney's office, Huizar faces up to 30 years in federal prison if convicted; Sigala-Favela and Chacon-Rubio each could face up to ten years.
