Suffolk County, N.Y. Passes anti-illegal law
Every step towards taking up the "Welcome" mat is a step in the right direction. I fully expect the pro-illegals and cheating, thieving employers will file suit.
A new law has been passed requiring all of Suffolk County's 17,000 licensed contractors to prove their workers are in the United States legally.
Critics claim the legislation _ passed by the county Legislature Tuesday night _ is aimed at thousands of undocumented workers. DUH
Now every contractor, regardless of whether they have government contracts, will need to verify workers' status.
Opponents have threatened lawsuits. They can fully expect it. Between the ACLU, MALDEF, etc.. they're certain to try like hell to find any legal point they can hope to exploit to keep this from going into effect.
