Atlanta. Man jumps to his death off of Spaghetti Junction overpass
Ok, totally off my usual topic but it's local and it bothers me. I have no idea what made him decide to kill himself. I think lots of people consider suicide at different times in their lives. The DUMBEST suicides are the "I'll show you, I'll hurt you, I'll get even with you" kind.
Actually, I think most suicides are dumb and could be avoided if people just took a step back from whatever depression got hold of them and looked at the big picture. I call it "recentering."
It's easy to get caught up in whatever misery has visited you. Sometimes life really sucks. Sometimes you wonder why even hang around if life's not going to get better? Think about this: No matter how bad you think you have it somebody else has it a helluva lot worse and climbed above it. Look at some of our soldiers that have been blown all to hell but fought back and regained themselves and their lives. Lot at the children struck down with all sorts of horrible illnesses and never did a bad thing in their short lives. Too often the adage, "It's a permanent solution to a temporary problem" holds true. Generally, whatever crap is sitting on your shoulders will lift over time. It will dry up and blow away.
Everybody gets the blues from time to time but when it starts weighing you down and consuming you then reach out for help. The WORST thing you can do is try to find answers or relief in the bottom of a bottle. A lot of times people just need somebody they can talk to, they need to vent. Why do you think bartenders have heard it all?
Do NOT off yourself. The pain will pass. Call somebody. Talk to somebody. Splattering on the street, putting a hole in your head, wrapping a rope around your neck, choking down a bunch of pills, NOT the answer. Live, love, be happy, be sad, but keep breathing as long as you can. You can't do a damned thing for anybody when you're 6 feet under.
Why not stay around a little longer?
All lanes are blocked on I-285 westbound after an unidentified person jumped to his death off a Spaghetti Junction overpass.
Apparently no one else was injured, said Department of Transportation spokesman Bryan Gunter. The incident happened around 4:15, just as traffic had already begun to slow for the afternoon commute.
