E-Verify. The pro-illegal and anti-illegal perspectives
Very simply, the pro-illegals and pro-plantation owners are opposed to any and every measure that impacts them. They oppose every iota of enforcement or separating illegals from their thieving employers. In the case of E-Verify they scream all sorts of feigned "The sky is falling" nonsense. Always with the scare tactics. The reality is that it's working very well. First, it's only applied to NEW hires, not current employees. Second, wouldn't ANY normal taxpayer want to know that their Social Security information was correct?
Here's one take from D.A. King (Anti-illegal)
While political candidates promise "more jobs for Americans," we shouldn't dismiss the tools made available by the federal government to attempt to ensure that those precious jobs do not go to black-market, taxpayer subsidized labor.
It is a federal crime to knowingly hire an illegal alien.
With a better chance of being struck by lightning than being sanctioned for violating the law, far too many employers disregard it.
Here's one take form Mike King at the AJC (pro-illegal)
And the system cannot be implemented in isolation. A truly comprehensive approach —- one that recognizes the nation's need for many of the illegal immigrants already here and clears them a pathway toward legal status —- remains the only real solution to the vexing problem. BULLSHIT. Obviously I have an anti-illegal bias but, also, an extremely limited tolerance towards word-mincing, dancing, spinning weasels.
HOW is repeating the monumental FAILURE of the "ONE TIME" amnesty of 1986 a "real solution?" The reason it FAILED was because of a total lack of enforcement. Mike King advocates yet another scam that goes "We're really going to get serious about enforcement, this time, after we have comprehensive immigration reform/anothe AMNESTY." MY ASS.
This nation doesn't have a "Need" for illegal aliens. Some industried have become addicted to a large pool of cheap slave labor. As a matter of fact, 5 million of Pew's total of 12 million, aren't working. So thre's 5 million we won't miss at all. And by the way, perhaps somebody needs to tell King about American citizens losing their jobs. AND interesting enough, klahoma's unemployment rate is dropping. Humm, why is that? And what about Arizona's rate? I believe it's also dropping or staying about the same. Humm, at a atime when unemployment rates are going up all around the country? Amazing.
