ICE chief spits in the wind
I don't have much good to say about Myers or Chertoff but I have heard her make a few comments to business groups I'm sure went over like a turd in the punchbowl.
The government cannot stop illegal immigration on its own, Julie Myers, the head of the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency, said today in Kansas City.
It needs businesspeople to keep their eyes open for possible undocumented immigrants working for them, she told hundreds of human relations executives and business leaders attending a labor, employment and benefits symposium put on by law firm Shughart Thomson & Kilroy. NOT going to happen unless business faces serious fines and enforcement. Also, can you imagine what some of these HR directors were thinking? "Sure, easy for her to say but I've got to fill slots for slave wages and my boss doesn't like excuses."
During her talk at the Overland Park Marriott, Myers said the best way to stop illegal immigration is “drying up the job magnet.” No she-it?
