Border Patrol agents discovered 51 illegal immigrants inside a tractor-trailer Tuesday at the North I-35 checkpoint station, authorities say.Among the immigrants were children, ages 5 and 10, and a 16-year-old.

The temperature inside the refrigerated trailer was 57 degrees, the release stated.

Nina Pruneda, Immigration and Customs Enforcement spokeswoman, said the immigrants appeared to be in good medical condition.

The tractor-trailer's driver, a U.S. citizen, was arrested and turned over to ICE special agents, Pruneda said.

• On May 11, Border Patrol agents assigned to the Laredo West station on U.S. 83 discovered 12 illegal immigrants inside a tractor-trailer. Each was identified as an immigrant from Mexico or Honduras.

• Also on May 11, Border Patrol agents found 21 illegal immigrants inside a tractor-trailer at the Laredo North station. They were identified as immigrants from Mexico.

• On March 30, agents found 38 illegal immigrants inside a tractor-trailer at the Laredo North station, including nine women and five juveniles.

• Within a three-hour span Feb. 14, agents found 85 illegal immigrants in four tractor-trailers.
