Mexico. More police fired and assassinated
It's sad. Very, very sad. And I don't see an end to it.
Six police officers were executed last night (Thurs.) in Culiacan, Sinaloa. The six, from different agencies, were part of a recently formed special group dealing with auto theft and narcotics retailing. They were all in a vehicle and were stopped at a traffic light when their killers opened up with AK47s. “More than” three hundred shell casings were picked up from the site. Three other executions also took place in the area yesterday.
Fifty-two law enforcement personnel have been victims of homicide this year in Sinaloa.
And two bodies were found yesterday in different parts of Mexicali, Baja Calif.; both showed signs of torture and had been executed.
Eleven police officers were fired in Acapulco. Seven of them had failed drug tests. Other officers were not punished who have been mentioned for theft or abuse of power against local residents and tourists.
Yet another high ranking member of Mexico’s “SSP” (Federal Dep’t. of Public Security) became the victim of killers yesterday (Thurs.) while he was eating at a Mexico City restaurant. Inspector Igor Labastida Calderon was one of the “SSP” officers responsible for combating contraband and “piracy” (cloned merchandise) as well as restructuring some federal law enforcement agencies. He had worked with Edgar Millan, the “SSP” top ranking operations officer who was himself executed on May 8.
Labastida’s escort and one other agent were also killed. Two other agents with him at the restaurant were wounded. Labastida was “sprayed” with an UZI by killers who walked in and opened fire.
