Great read on Mississippi's new anti-illegal alien laws

@ 11:07 AM (2 months, 4 days ago)

More and more states are taking up the cause that the federal government refuses to do, cut off the jobs to illegals. Of course the plantation owners, illegal aliens and sympathizers,  and exploiters don't like it. Tough. This article, once again, shows it's not such a partisan issue.

Thank you, Mississippi

The Mississippi Employment Protection Act became law on March 17 and went into effect on Tuesday. SB

2988 passed with overwhelming bipartisan support. African-American, white, Republican, and Democrat legislators voted for this measure. It passed the Senate 52-0 and the House 112-8. Mississippi citizens should thank our leaders who promised immigration reform in their 2007 campaigns and lived up to their word.

The new law requires employers in Mississippi to confirm the legal status of all new employees by using E-Verify, the federal online employment verification system. It makes it a discriminatory practice to dismiss a U.S. citizen or permanent resident alien while retaining an employee who is illegally in our country, and makes it a felony for an illegal alien to accept or perform employment.

All state agencies, all employers with contracts with the state, all third-party employers, private companies that utilize third-party employees, and other private employers with more than 250 employees are now subject to the state's Employment Protection Act.

Private employers with fewer than 250 employees and without state contracts will be phased in over the next three years, depending upon their number of employees.

Penalties for non-compliance include the cancellation of and ineligibility for state contracts for up to three years, and/or the loss of any license or permit to do business in Mississippi for up to one year.

E-Verify is the integral part of this legislation. Eleven states now require businesses to use E-Verify.
