A former Sheboygan man convicted of sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl on two consecutive days was sentenced Tuesday to nine years in prison.
Police say Ricardo Robles-Soto, a 33-year-old illegal immigrant from Mexico, forced himself on the teenager in November 2004 and fled the state when he learned the incident had been reported to police. He was sentenced by Judge L. Edward Stengel to the prison term and seven years extended supervision, though he will likely be deported after serving the prison sentence.
Stengel, before sentencing Robles-Soto, said Soto's situation "is not an unusual one based on what we have seen in this court and … in this community."
Robles-Soto is the fourth illegal immigrant sentenced to prison in the last three months for sexually assaulting children in Sheboygan. Juan Aguilar, 44, was sentenced in May to 18 months in prison after having sex with a disabled 17-year-old girl; Martin L. Gamez, 18, was sentenced in June to eight years in prison for having sexual contact with 8- and 15-year-old girls; and Jose Carman Gonzalez-Ricardo, 42, was sentenced last week to six years in prison for having sexual contact with an 8-year-old boy, court records show.
