PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. -- Federal authorities said they have foiled a plot by two illegal immigrants suspected of holding a 4-year-old boy hostage as a way to extort money from his West Palm Beach mother.
Garcia traveled to the United States from Guatemala illegally six years ago, WPBF News 25's Amanda Salinas reported Wednesday. About seven months ago she returned to her home county,( "country" would make more sense than this mistype) but when she returned to Florida in September, she didn't have enough money to bring both her U.S.-born son and daughter with her, so she left 4-year-old J.B. there and made arrangements for smugglers to bring him into the country."Once they got the child to Phoenix, the smugglers called her," ICE Special Agent Armando Garcia said in a telephone interview with Salinas. "She was the sponsor. She was going to pay the smuggling fee. They raised the price … which she didn't have." WHY would she need to pay a smuggler to bring in 2 citizens? Why is she in this country downloading her DNA? All of us know that answer.
