More needless deaths and illegals let loose on bond.
This happens all the time. This is an everyday event all over the country because of candy-assed, don't want to get involved, assholes. These people would rather see Americans slaughtered on the streets than do what they should and screen illegal aliens. Not only screen for them but don't let these dirtbags loose knowing there's a high chance they'll take off. In this story one accused slime jumped bail, ran to Mexico and they won't extradict him.
I don't care if it's because of candy-assed sheriffs, ICE, stupid ass judges or DAs, this needs to stop.
I'm so tired of it.
A 21-year-old illegal immigrant from Mexico is scheduled to go on trial today in Watseka for a drunken driving accident that killed Marvin Dettmering of rural Buckley about year ago. Despite the prospect of jail time and growing national efforts to deport people who enter the country illegally, Luis Alcantar, 22, of Onarga, has remained in the United States to face felony aggravated DUI charges.
Iroquois County States Attorney Jim Devine told The Daily Journal Alcantar “has made every court appearance since his release,” on $50,000 bond several months ago. He related the fact when discussing a similar case in Buckley four years ago, where another illegal immigrant from Mexico, Fernando Nunez,
fled the U.S. Authorities there have refused to extradite him to the U.S. for trial, according to Devine.
Police said Alcantar ran a stop sign on a rural road northeast of Buckley and hit the 76-year-old Dettmering’s car. Alcantar, his wife and child, were treated for minor injuries at a Kankakee hospital.
Dettmering died following nearly two months in intensive care in Urbana.
Charges against Alcantar were upgrated from simple DUI to the felony aggravated DUI in an indictment last Nov. 1.
In the earlier case, Nunez, who lived in Rantoul, was allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol and cocaine in Buckley when he plowed his car into the rear of a farm tractor carrying two 15-year-old Buckley boys.
Zachary Mingee, riding on the tractor, was killed. The driver, Dustin Luhrsen, was injured.
Nunez fled the scene, but was captured hiding along a creek after a 2 1/2-hour police manhunt involving dogs and aircraft.
Later, although Devine requested that bond for Nunez be doubled to $100,000, it was set in court at $60,000. Bail of $6,000 was raised by family members and Nunez fled the country.
