Gwinnett County, Georgia. Cops find a million dollars in SUSPECT'S car
I love the "suspect" thing. Can't call them drug dealers, burglars, murderers, whatever until after they're convicted. But, I can ask questions and make commentary.
Pocket change
Deputies stopped Santiago Valdovinos-Moreno on Lawrenceville-Suwanee Road after noticing that he was swerving in and out of lanes, said Gwinnett Sheriff’s spokeswoman Stacey Bourbonnais. While the deputies were speaking with him, Valdovinos-Moreno allegedly pushed a deputy and fled on foot. He was captured and charged with obstruction of a law enforcement officer. Upon searching his vehicle, deputies found the cash in a duffel bag. The money was seized and Valdovinos-Moreno is being held at the Gwinnett jail on $1 million cash-only bond.
Ahhh, didn't say if he was an illegal or not. Didn't mention prior arrests. But something tells me he's got a lot of explaining to do to somebody. I'm thinking that's a little more than pocket change. I don't know the law but there are limits to the amount of money you can carry around and if you can't show it's yours, acquired by legal means, then it might be subject to confiscation until you can prove it's not "drug money" or such. How many people have you ever known that carried, at the most for a car purchase or such, more than say $20,000? I rode shotgun with a store manager making a deposit to the bank that had a whole lot of money, once.
Anyway, assuming that he can't prove where that money legally came from, isn't somebody going to be pissed it's gone and now belongs to the police? tsk..tsk..tsk.
